How to Reach AndamanAndaman and Nicobar islands are far away from the mainland and are accessible only by sea or air.

By Air:


Veer Savarkar Airport in Port Blair is the only airport here. It connects Andaman to Kolkata and Chennai. Jet Airways, Air Deccan , Spicejet and Indian Airlines operate flights to Port Blair. You can get a good bargain if you can plan your trip and book tickets in advance. Air Tickets can get as high as 12000/- in peak season, which can bore a hole in any tourist’s pockets.

By Sea:

Port Blair is connected by ships to Kolkata, Chennai & Vishakhapatnam. The ships are good for people who have plenty of time to enjoy the sea and love voyaging. The Voyage takes around 2-3 days to get to Port-Blair. You may spot dolphins enjoying the bay near the city.

Permits:


Foreign tourists require a permit to enter Andaman and Nicobar islands. This can be obtained at the airport on arrival. It is issued free of charge and is valid for 30 days. It can be extended to 45 days.
